Clean Vehicle Sellers and Dealers Should Register with Energy Credits Online Immediately
The IRS has issued a reminder for sellers of clean vehicles to register immediately with the Energy Credits Online tool. This is important, as registering with this tool allows sellers to be in a position on January 1, 2024, to begin receiving advance payments and to generate a time-of-sale report required to utilize the credit. In order to successfully claim new or previously owned clean vehicle credits for vehicles placed in service as of January 1, 2024, or later, this online tool must be used by licensed dealers or clean vehicle sellers. This online tool is secure, accurate, and does not require the use of special software.
